Systems Wire and Cable is committed to being a responsible small business partner and is opposed to human rights abuse. As part of our commitment, Systems Wire and Cable strive for products and materials for companies that share our ethics, values and human rights.

In August of 2012, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) executed Section 1502, known as the Dodd-Frank Act. This act requires that companies using gold, tin, tungsten and tantalum make efforts to determine if those materials came from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) or an adjoining country. Making it possible to carry out a due diligence to review their supplier chain to determine whether their material purchases are funding armed groups in Eastern DRC. “Conflict materials” refers to columbite-tantalite (coltan), cassiterite, gold, wolframite and any other derivatives of tantalum, tin and tungsten, without regard to the location of origin of the minerals or derivative metals.

Systems Wire and Cable is committed to sourcing materials from companies that share our values regarding ethics, human rights and environmental responsibility. Suppliers to Systems Wire and Cable are responsible for establishing their own conflict materials policies, due diligence framework to prevent conflict minerals originating from the DRC and/ or adjoining countries. In the event suppliers fail to comply Systems Wire and Cable reserves the right to take appropriate actions, which may include discontinuing the business relationship with the supplier. Systems Wire and Cable supports the efforts to reduce and hopefully eliminate the use of conflict materials originating from DRC and adjoining countries.
